After the rain storm

My rose bushes Gemini has put out some stunning roses this summer.  The beauty never ceased to amaze me.  I think I am in constant awe of the forces of natures like the storm that swept through last night.  But more so, I am humbled how gentle things manage to survive the fury and continue on through their cycle.

Urgent: Dorchester authors contact me immediately!!!

Do you have any titles with Dorchester still? If so you need to contact Montlake/Amazon. There is offer in place to pay back royalties and put the books into Montlake Publishing (Romance division of Amazon's new publishing firm). But the offer is only good until August 15th. After that date the offer is being withdrawn.

Please note Amazon/Montlake is contacting authors. However, they are lacking information or often have incomplete information. So many authors do not know about this being on the table. The offer that is on the table to pay the back royalties owe is TICKING.

It expires on August 15th. If you haven’t accepted their offer on or before that date, the offer is void. And no idea what is going to be put in place after that date.

Montlake has incorrect information, incorrect addresses, emails, phones, and screwed up listings of what books you have, especially if you wrote under more than one name.

I am not telling anyone to accept this offer. That is your choice. I am saying DO NOT wait or the offer won’t be there to accept. The pumpkin could go poof.

There is option to ask for rights back – HOWEVER, the wording on the phone to me was “We want our author to be happy. If they don’t want to accept the offer we will turn them back to Dorchester and Dorchester has promised to give the rights back.” Sounds nice, but WHO will be Dorchester? Who will have that power to revert rights? Sam Hazell is still hanging on trying to help out, but they could pull her plug any day. Lazarus is involved in the sale ONLY. Once the stalking horse bid goes into place on the 15th, he’s out of it. You could conceivably be left with NO ONE to return your rights to you. So think on that. I mean when did we suddenly decide to trust Dorchester promises???

With August already zooming by, I realize how fleeting the days are
 that my garden blesses me with such beauty.  I hesitated to have roses.
Once before  I put a lot of time into a huge roses garden only for it to be
nothing more than a meal for Japanese beetles.  I have enjoyed the
 plants and not a  beetle one.  Thus, I have been so rewarded with
their special beauty  this year.

Topsy-Tervy doll of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs - with the witch on the

flip side.  She placed for in the Oldham Co. Fair held this last week for

handcrafted division.  The doll is totally hand-sewn, not from a pattern.

Perfection in my garden

Meet Miss Mouthy

As some of you know, I lost my Foutchie in the house fire.  It was devastating to lose my cherished friend in this fashion.  It left me unable to really open my heart to another kitty for the past two years.  In olden times people were in mourning for two years.  The first year was "deep" mourning.  You wore black, didn't go out and stayed in to grieve.  The second year was a slow awakening.  You put away the black, and wore lavenders.  You started going out in the world and learning to live again.  In a fashion, that is what I have gone through with the fire and it's aftermath.

So now it was time to open my home to a new friend.  Miss Mouthy came to me early in May.  She's not quite a year old.  She was scared, lonely and hungry.  It took several weeks to get her to come up to me.  Then I was allow three pats--no more.  Slowing, she came to trust me.  It hurt me to see her sleeping in the flower bed or in the yard, with no place to go.  When a bad storm came up, enough was enough.  I brought her inside, and she's been there ever since.  She fit in so perfectly.  She keeps me company while I write.  She cuddles on my feet or legs at night.  And she talks.  Boy, does she talk.


The time was right for her and me both.

Amazon Publishing/ Montlake buys the Sisters of Colford Hall series

Amazon Publishing/Montlake made me an offer yesterday.  They are buying my books from the defunct Dorchester Publishing and will give my series a new home.  They will be available immediately in Kindle, but down the road with be back in print and even hardback!!  Amazon Publishing was even kind enough to purchases the original covers, so I will keep them!

I am very excited about this new opportunity.  Big thank you to Amazon Publishing for swooping in and saving them!

Amazon to buy out Dorchester backlist

It's been announced on Publishers Weekly and other places, that Amazon Publishing will buy out the backlist of Dorchester Publishing.  They will be making offers to authors with "active titles", putting their books out immediately in e-book, then hardback, trade and even audio books.


This is good news for authors of Dorch Pub, who have been in limbo for nearly a year.
