Fabulous Friday

Friday we went to pick up Candy's doll from the County Extension Office in Buckner.  They held the state-wide convention for County Homemakers.  Candy's Fortuneteller doll had won a blue ribbon for the local Heritage Fair, then went on to half-state competition, where it won a second blue ribbon.  In the statewide competition she took the third blue.  The doll will move on to Country Fair and State Fair competition this July and August.

We had to drive back to La Grange for they were holding a luncheon and lecture on appeal that local residents wore during the 1850s - 1870.  Since these clothes were handmade, some of the detail was amazing.  Since Candy sews so much and I am into history, it was a perfect luncheon.

Kentucky Girl Tea Party

Candy wrote an essay about me and entered it in the Kentucky Girl Contest.  I entered her (where she got the idea) since she is now a Kentucky girl.  However, Candy's essay was picked as a finalist, which put me in the five finalists for the title.  It was a fun excuse to get dressed up and go out and enjoy a beautiful day.  The have a lovely time.  Enjoyed three pots of tea, Benedictine Sandwiches (a new treat for Candy since it's a local recipe, chicken salad sandwiches, and several sweet treats for desert.  We had a wonderful time.
