Congrats to Candy Thompson!!!

Congrats, to my dear friend, Candy Thompson, on her first place win in the second level of state competition.  Last month she won a blue ribbon in the Heritage Fair, which sent the doll to half state competition.  Her third year in a row for taking first place in this level of competition. The Gypsy was based on the Gypsy Fortuneteller from my book A Wolf in Wolf's Clothing. The wonderful doll goes on to full state competition at the end of next month.

A writer's mind....

Many things provoke stories to take root in the author's mind.  This image is one of those things.

However, I cannot find anything out about it.  It's image name is Millpark, but I am not able to find the origins of the image, who took it, or where the site is.  If anyone has any information, please let me know!!

Mystery Solved:

Abandoned Carbide Mill, Lac Meech, Quebec

Thomas Leopold "Carbide" Willson (March 14, 1860 – December 20, 1915) was a Canadian inventor.
He was born on a farm near Princeton, Ontario in 1860 and went to school in Hamilton, Ontario. By the age of 21, he had designed and patented the first electric arc lamps used in Hamilton. He moved to the United States in search of opportunities to sell his ideas.
In 1892, he discovered an economically efficient process for creating calcium carbide, which is used in the production of acetylene gas. In 1895, he sold his patent to Union Carbide.
